David Cheslin

It is with great sadness that Dunelm announces the death of its founder and Managing Director, David Cheslin.  David had been in hospital for six months having undergone two liver transplants and died suddenly on the evening of Monday 5 August 2013.

A trade and technical journalist from 1970 to 1977, David Cheslin worked in international public relations for over 33 years, specialising in shipping and allied industries.

Journalistic experience was first gained with IPC Business Press. In 1974, David joined Containerisation International as deputy editor. For three years, he was part of a team which transformed this publication into a magazine now acknowledged as the leading trade paper for the international shipping liner industry.

David began work as a public relations consultant in October 1978, rapidly attracting a number of international accounts from contacts made during his journalistic career and leading to the formation of Dunelm in 1981.
